5th KiiT International School Model United Nations Conference concluded successfully.

"Changing the world one MUN at a time" as the theme of the 5th edition of KIITISMUN goes, the delegates vowed to change for the good of the common people and sustainable development through the effective use of diplomacy and deliberations.

KiiT International School Model United Nations commenced with ambassadors and diplomatic representatives from embassies of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Republic of Djibouti, Republic of Guinea, Bolivia, Republic of Togo, Colombia, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Somalia and Afghanistan along with a host of UN officials like Dr. Suraj Kumar, Governance Expert, Neeti Foundatiom, Mrs. Mamta Borgoyary, CEO, FXB Suraksha India, Dr. Deepa Prasad, State Head, Odisha, United Nations Population Fund, who in unison encouraged the student leaders gathered at KiiT International School to foster ideas and action plans to make this world a better place to live in.

This year with 500 plus delegates from 42 different schools participating in six councils discussed issues plaguing mankind- from the age old Israel - Palestine conflict in the General Assembly to the recent BREXIT referendum in House of Commons. The Human Rights Council discussed climate change and the UN Crime Congress deliberated about regulating the illegal drug trade.

The Conference even hosted the first #HeForShe talk Show in the state of Odisha with Dr. Shashi Tharoor and Dr. Suraj Kumar leading an interactive session with the participants on the theme of this year's edition, "the United Colours of Gender."

The delegates over three days debated, wrote working papers and passed resolutions. The dynamic International Press came out with news letter, covered the Conference and prepared a video on the nitty gritties of the same.

Conference ended with Dr.Saswati Bal felicitating the Executive Board members, Organising Committee members and the winners of the 7 committees. The day also saw the release of the Newsletter of the KIIT International School Model United Nations 2016. The Chairperson, Dr. Monalisa Bal moved a resolution during the closing ceremony promising a bigger and a better conference next year.

Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Patron in Chief of the MUN congratulated the winners and ideated a committee solely dedicated to the tribal students of KISS debating about the indigenous right to education, thereby ending the legacy on a high note to come again in a bigger and superlatively amazing conference next year. KiiT International School started with the MUN culture in Odisha and now there are more than 42 MUNs conducted in the Odisha Circuit , but kiitismun remains the favourite as it reiterates the adage old is gold.
