KiiT International School celebrated Independence Day in the premises with enthusiasm and festivity. The tricolor was hoisted by Mrs. Saswati Bal, President, KIIT and KISS. She was accompanied by Dr. Mona Lisa Bal, Chairperson of the School, Mr. P. K. Das, Academic Director, and Mr. Sanjay Suar, Principal of the School. Beautifully done up in the colors of India, the amphitheater was the place that sprung to life with the three generations of Indians that represented the KiiT fraternity. Mrs. Bal, in her speech, highlighted that fact that though the young generation was born in a free nation; they should realize that the sense of respect and the ability to face the rest of the world on equal terms was the gift of the freedom struggle which they needed to prize.

Several students including Abhishek Mahapatra, Alok Murty, Smarak Bal and other too shared their thoughts on what freedom meant to them. There was an interesting international flavor to the celebrations, as the Korean students also joined in to celebrate the Independence day of Korea, and shared how countries all over the world have come into their own through similar struggles, and have provided the future generations with the onus of a free country.

Several Teachers of the School were honored with Certificates of Excellence for their outstanding contribution to the School. Prizes were given to students for their artistic abilities. The release of the symbolic white pigeons marked the culmination of a beautiful reflective moment in the lives of all those present.
