Guidance Counseling

"School Guest Speaker"
"School Guest speaker" is a program based on inviting inspiring guest speakers to the school. These guests present to the students their own experience in different fields.
Students have the opportunity to speak face to face to professionals from different areas and learn about their areas of expertise.
School Guest Speaker at KIIT International School
Mr. Taraq Kamdar.
Speech: "Studying and working in Germany"
Mr. Taraq Kamdar got graduated in MSc. in Electronic Engineering at Hoschule Bremen, Germany. He is actually working in Germany in an oil and gas industry company called Cameron.
He talked to the students about his experience in Germany, focusing his presentation in the following points:
  • Entry requirements in German Universities.
  • Practical information about German Universities: fees cost, living cost, application philosophy, research possibilities, teaching methodology, internships and scholarships.
  • Benefits of studying and working at the European Union.
  • Part time student's job.
  • Intercultural environment in Europe.
  • Personal learning.

What do I want to do after finishing Grade 12? Which course is the best for me considering my academic and non-academic skills? Which kind of job would I like to do in the future? How do I know whether I am selecting the right path for my career? Where am I going to study? Can I obtain a scholarship abroad? Can I pursue my studies in English in a non-English speaking country? E.g., is it possible to study B. Sc. Engineer in English language in Germany? What do I have to do to be successful in gaining admission to a good university?

These are just some of the questions that students have to consider seriously and try to answer one day. School Guidance Counselors play a key role in assisting students during this decision making process. They aid students in identifying their strengths and facilitate the application procedures to get admitted to universities all over the world.

Therefore, the Guidance Counselors are responsible for the following tasks:
  • Making students aware of their natural talent and self-knowledge in order to develop their full potential.
  • Updating students about the Higher Education options and their entry requirements in the following countries: USA, Canada, UK, Australia, Singapore, Japan, China, UAE and in the EU countries (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, etc).
  • Providing information about academic scholarships, sports grants and international programs.
  • Organizing and participating in university visits and fairs.
  • Liaising with Universities admission officers worldwide.
  • Developing international partnerships projects with schools abroad.
  • Conducting workshops regarding public speaking, learning styles, oral presentations, study techniques, speed-reading, essay writing, etc.
  • Managing the "Work experience programme" based on inviting guests to the school to speak about their professions in real life situations.
  • Enhancing self-confidence and teaching how to deal with personal challenging issues.
